Currently, there are 193 new crown vaccine projects registered with the World Health Organization. China National Pharmaceutical Group Sinopharm
China National Pharmaceutical Group Sinopharm has developed two new crown vaccines, both of which have entered phase 3 trials. One of them started a phase 3 clinical trial in the UAE in June this year, and the number of people participating in the trial has exceeded 20,000. In addition, the inactivated vaccine they developed was launched for emergency use in China on July 22. On August 5 this year, the new crown inactivated vaccine production workshop of the Beijing Institute of Biology obtained the production license from the regulatory authority. China Finance Network reported that this production workshop is the world's first and largest inactivated vaccine production workshop for COVID-19. Together with the production base in Wuhan, the annual output of Sinopharm's new crown vaccine will reach 200 million.
In September of this year, the vaccine developed by China Biotech was authorized by the UAE Ministry of Health and was included in the emergency vaccine list. This is China's first vaccine that has received international recognition.
At present, the countries participating in the Phase 3 vaccine trial of Sinopharm Group China Biology mainly include Pakistan, Indonesia, Brazil, Russia and the United Arab Emirates. Zhou Song, the legal counsel of China National Pharmaceutical Group, told the media on September 11 that their inactivated vaccine will be available in December this year at the earliest.
Sinovac Biotech has also entered the third phase. The inactivated new crown vaccine CoronaVac developed by the company may be launched in 2021. According to the company's chairman Yin Weidong, human immunity will remain at least 6 months after vaccination. The production line for this vaccine has been constructed at the end of March this year, and 100 million vaccines can be produced every year after it is put into production.

BEIJING (Bloomberg): China’s Sinovac Biotech Ltd may start Covid-19 vaccine trials in the Philippines before the end of the year, the chief of the Southeast Asian nation’s food and drug agency said.
Sinovac has passed the review of a vaccine experts panel to conduct Phase 3 clinical trials and is expected to submit as early as this week its application with the Philippines’ Food and Drug Administration, Eric Domingo, the agency’s director general, said in a virtual briefing Thursday (Oct 15). The approval process may take 21 days.
Other testings, including the World Health Organization’s “solidarity trial” where the Philippines is a participant, may also start before the end of 2020.
President Rodrigo Duterte late Wednesday said vaccines from China and Russia will be prioritised, adding that Moscow has expressed intention to set up a pharmaceutical plant in the Philippines.

JAKARTA/BEIJING (Reuters) - China’s Sinovac Biotech Ltd launched a late-stage human trial on Tuesday that will involve as many as 1,620 patients in Indonesia for a COVID-19 vaccine candidate that it is developing with Indonesian state-owned peer Bio Farma.
Separately, Sinovac released details on Monday from a mid-stage, or Phase 2, study in which it said the vaccine candidate appeared to be safe and induced detectable antibody-based immune responses in subjects.
CoronaVac is already undergoing a late-stage trial in Brazil and Sinovac expects to also test it in Bangladesh.
“The threat of COVID-19 will not subside until a vaccine is given to all the people,” said Indonesian President Joko Widodo at a ceremony to launch the trial in Bandung, West Java. “Hopefully in January, we can produce and vaccinate everyone in the country.”

BRASILIA: A Chinese-made vaccine against the new coronavirus entered the final stage of testing Tuesday in Brazil, where volunteers received the first doses of what officials hope will be a game-changer in the global pandemic.
The vaccine, developed by private Chinese pharmaceutical firm Sinovac Biotech, became the third in the world to enter Phase 3 clinical trials, or large-scale testing on humans -- the last step before regulatory approval.
Around 9,000 health workers across six Brazilian states will receive the vaccine, known as CoronaVac, in two doses over the next three months under the study.
Sao Paulo Governor Joao Doria said Monday initial results were expected within 90 days.
Sinovac is partnering with a Brazilian public health research center, the Butantan Institute, on the trials.
